Setting Charges by Job Department

Jobable has charging options to cover most common pricing structures. These are calculated at the end of the engineer's visit in Remote, and are set by the Job Department for any particular job. To view your Job Departments, go to Settings > Manage Job Departments and Charges. Press '+ New' to add a new Job Department, or click the blue pencil icon next to any existing Job Department to edit that Job Department.

The components that make up the labour charge are:

Call-out Charge (£*)

A charge added once, only to the first visit on a job.

Labour Charge (£*)

A charge added per increment of time.

Labour Charge Increment (mins)

The increment of time for which to charge each Labour Charge, defined in minutes. (This value must be greater than zero to avoid calculation errors. Set Labour Charge to zero if you do not intend to charge incremental labour.)

Minimum Labour Charge (£*)

The minimum amount of labour that will be added to a job, in your currency.

Return Visit Charge (£*)

A charge added to any visit after the first visit on a job.

* or the currency defined in Settings > System Configuration > Company > Currency.

Example 1: Charging £120 for a service, irrespective of time spent or number of visits.

Example 2: Charging £120 for the first hour on site, followed by a charge of £60 for any hour thereafter. Travel for subsequent visits is charged at £30.

The £120.00 for the first visit is made up of £60.00 call-out and £60.00 minimum labour charge, with additional labour charged in 1 hour increments of £60.00.

Example 3: A call-out charge of £100.00, followed by an hourly charge of £75.00, charged per quarter-hour. For return visits, only the on-site time is charged.

If your hourly rate is charged in smaller increments, you need to define the shortest increment you will charge. £75.00 per hour = £18.75 per 15 mins.

All the prices entered to the Job Department should be exclusive of VAT. VAT will be added in the calculation in Remote. You can set your VAT settings in Settings > Manage Sales Tax. If you do not charge VAT, you will need to use a zero tax/no tax Sales Tax setting.

Remote pricing calculation:

If the visit is a no charge visit, this visit price is zero.

Otherwise if the visit is a fixed price visit, this visit price is the fixed price. Any parts unticked (Not Used) will be deducted from the visit price.

Otherwise if the visit is a quoted visit, this visit price is the quoted price. Any parts unticked (Not Used) will be deducted from the visit price.

Otherwise:

Remote will add the Call-out Charge on the first visit, or the Return Visit Charge on any subsequent visit.

Remote will add the greater of:

  • ( ( minutes on job ÷ Labour Charge Increment ) rounded up ) x Labour Charge

  • Minimum Labour Charge

Remote will add parts used (quantity x retail price)

The visit total for this visit is complete and is added to the amount due.

If the job has previous visits, they will be added to the amount due.

VAT will be added to the amount due.

If the job has previous payments, they will be subtracted from the amount due.
